ACORN sues over funding cut - Jake Sherman - POLITICO.com: "A non-profit organization filed a lawsuit against the federal government Thursday morning, seeking to overturn a law stopping the flow of federal funds to ACORN."
This is like robbing a bank and suing the bank because you got caught. Most organizations would seek to restore public trust AND ONLY THEN try to get federal funding back. At least, that's what they ought to do.

Wind turbine puts neighbors in a spin
Northwest Herald | Wind turbine puts neighbors in a spin: "Klimczak said the large turbine altered the view from pristine and natural to “ ... somewhat like a toothache – always peripherally in view or thought, annoyingly unable to be ignored.” Klimczak and Cyscon said they also were concerned about whether the turbine’s blades would hurt property values or the native and migratory birds drawn to the wetlands and open space.
“Now it’s as if someone painted a ‘Go Green’ button on the Mona Lisa,” Klimczak said. “Nice sentiment, wrong place.”"
Read the linked story. I wonder if the houses that were built there might also have ruined the natural beauty of the area. I used to be a customer of Other World Computing, back when dial-up was about the only choice for Internet access. They were great. Now, anyone who regularly reads my postings knows I'm not some type of tree hugger environmentalist but I think what they are doing is great.
This situation reminds me of all the fights to keep wind turbines off the coastlines and solar and wind farms out of the desert. "Everyone" seems to be saying that we need to do something to move away from fossil fuels but "no one" really wants bear any burden for it.

Family Sues Gun Club Over Negligent Death of Eight Year Old Boy Allowed to Shoot Uzi
Family Sues Gun Club Over Negligent Death of Eight Year Old Boy Allowed to Shoot Uzi | Right Wing News: "I have been trained that there are no accidental shootings, but there are negligent discharges. For a round to go where it isn't meant, there has to be some negligence involved. There are lapses of judgment that could have prevented Christopher's death, starting with the father. From the beginning, he was negligent in his duties as a father.
I guess were I in his position, I would want the blame for my son's death to fall on another as well. It would be easier that way.
But it would be a lie."
I couldn't have said it better myself.

Dumbass Criminals
Man sentenced for threatening to rape, kill disabled girl - Chicago Breaking News: "Sessom, in denying the charge, told Woodstock Police Officers that he talked to the girl because he was 'driving down the street trying to pick up girls, because that is what he does,' prosecutors said."
The guy's a pervert and admits it to the cops? What a dumbass!
Now, I'm glad that he is such a dumbass because it means there's a very good chance that he'll keep getting caught until the court system finally puts him away for a very long time.

The mother who brought down the Fort Hood killer
The mother who brought down the Fort Hood killer - Times Online: "A police officer and mother of one was hailed a heroine yesterday after it emerged that she almost single handedly ended the massacre at America’s biggest military base"
Honestly, I have purposely avoided the military base shooting story because of all the crazy commentary that's already happening on the news channels. I saw some idiot reporter on CNN talking about the shooter having a "cop killer handgun". They even had the term splash across the bottom of the screen. Okay, for those who don't already know it, there is no such things as a "cop killer handgun". The term "cop killer" has been used improperly for year now, usually referring to some new type of ammunition that was supposed to be capable of easily passing through body armor. Body armor comes in different strengths, gauged to the threat that it is meant to stop. Generally, police body armor is gauged to stop all but the most powerful handgun and shotgun calibers. Military body armor is gauged to stop rifle calibers, as well as handgun/shotgun calibers. I have yet to see any evidence of a "cop killer" ammunition that was able to pass through body armor that was gauged for that particular caliber.
That said, I do think that Officer Munley deserves mention. Too often, people think of police officers negatively. Its probably because most people's contact with police officers is pretty much only when they are getting a traffic ticket. I think people fail to realize that police officers are putting their lives on the line for us everyday. I thank God that police officers like Ms. Munley exist. Well done, Officer Munley, well done!
One final note, my prayers go out to the families of those killed in this senseless attack.

Data on stimulus-related jobs saved, created don't add up
Data on stimulus-related jobs saved, created don't add up - Chicago Breaking News: "The Obama administration last week released the first round of data designed to underpin the worthiness of its economic stimulus plan, which so far has directed $1.25 billion to Illinois schools. That money has helped save or create 14,330 school jobs in the state, the administration claimed.
But those statistics, compiled initially by the Illinois State Board of Education, appear riddled with anomalies that raise questions about their validity, according to a Tribune analysis of district-by-district stimulus spending and other state data. Many local school officials were perplexed by the stimulus data attributed to their districts."
Why am I not surprised? As far as I can tell the stimulus has done nothing for regular folks. Just more wasted tax dollars.

Dumbass Criminals
Kane Kellett Of McHenry County Flips Off Judge, Goes To Jail - cbs2chicago.com: "Kane Kellett, 24, raised his middle finger while he was being sworn in to face home invasion charges at a rights hearing, the Daily Herald reported. He also hurled profanity at Judge G. Martin Zopp.
Zopp promptly gave Kellett six months in jail for contempt of court."
Okay, who doesn't know that you just don't flip the bird at a judge in a courtroom? Of course, this dumbass is accused of attacking a pregnant woman, as well as some other crimes, so I guess he might be a little to thick to understand that.
